![]() ![]() This was originally written to allow Spidersoft to automatically email out copies of software to anyone requesting it. The user was able to configure AutoSort to check for a specific message subject and respond accordingly. For example, if a user sent an email to Spidersoft with the subject AutoSort then the program automatically sent a copy of AutoSort out. Obviously, the program was also able to send out plain text messages too. Development of AutoSort 2 started in June 1996, several versions have been produced since then. AutoSort 2 was written to be compatible with both Argonet's Voyager Internet Suite and ANT Limited's Internet Suite. The underlying problem however, has been that every time either of the above two suites have changed AutoSort 2 had to change too. Every time we were ready to release AutoSort 2 something changed causing problems. This is why AutoSort 2 was aborted and AutoSort 3 came in. AutoSort 3 works in a much, much simpler way. Instead of trying to behave as though it is part of the particular internet suite, AutoSort 3 has been designed to be additional program - which works with the suite, rather than working as part of it. This has the major advantage in that AutoSort 3 should work with any internet setup, and not need modifying for every slight change done to the original suites.
